  Biografie Cataleya Fay

  Cataleya Fay ist Singer-Songwriter und vielseitige Künstlerin.
  Ihre Reise als Solokünstlerin begann Ende Juli 2012 mit der Veröffentlichung ihres Debutalbums „Trace“. „Welcome To This World“ wurde daraus 2013 als Titelsong für den Kinotrailer des Cosmic Cine Filmfestivals ausgewählt und in ganz Deutschland und der Schweiz ausgestrahlt. Es folgte ein intensives und ereignisreiches Jahr, mit Solokonzerten und gemeinsamen Gigs mit anderen Künstlern. 2014 nahmen die Konzertauftritte als auch Kooperationen mit befreundeten Musikern, Künstlern und Referenten weiter zu. Daneben wurde „Gone Beyond“ von ihrem Debut Album als Abspannsong für den Dokumentarspielfilm „Spirit Berlin“ gewählt, den man auch auf dem dazugehörigen Soundtrack, erschienen im Herbst 2014, hören kann, sowie einen Song ihrer Nachfolge CD “Journey”. “Journey” ist offiziell erschienen am 1. Mai 2015 unter dem neuen Kölner Label Electromantica.

  Sie hat verschiedene Genres ausprobiert, elektronische Musik, experimentellen Pop, Dance, Rock, Soul, World Music, Mantras sowie Chants und sie sang in einem Gospel Chor. Obwohl man diese Einflüsse noch immer in ihrer Musik wahrnehmen kann, fühlt sich Cataleya Fay eigentlich zu Hause in der Tradition der Singer-Songwriter, wo es um den Ausdruck persönlicher Gefühle, Gedanken, Meinungen, Erlebnisse und Beobachtungen geht.

  Cataleya Fay widmet ihre Lieder und Kompostionen den großen Themen des Lebens. Mit viel Gefühl singt und schreibt sie über Individualität, Glück, Liebe, Mut und Inspiration. Die Fähigkeiten eines Menschen, unsere Gesellschaft, den Umgang miteinander, wie mit der Natur und der Welt an sich.
  Sie schafft dies ohne falsche Sentimentalität oder erhobenen Zeigefinger. Stattdessen öffnet sie einfach ihr Herz, um den Zuhörern ihre Vision hörbar, fühlbar und sichtbar zu machen. Es ist Musik zur Inspiration, zur Ermutigung, denn Kritiker, sagt sie, hat die Welt schon genug.

  Mit Journey liegt jetzt ihr zweites Album vor. Auch hier bewahren die Songs die Fragilität, Persönlichkeit und Intensität von Cataleyas Live-Auftritten, gehen aber musikalisch den konsequent nächsten Schritt, den die Studioarbeit ermöglicht. Homogen ergänzen sich auf dem Album Songs, die fast ausschließlich aus Klavier mit Cello oder Gitarre bestehen, mit Songs, die weltmusikalisch beeinflusst sind, bis hin zu Tracks, die Elemente aus Soul, R’n’B, Rock und Elektronik vereinen. So finden sich auf dem Album, neben der klassischen Instrumentierung und elektronischen Komponenten auch Instrumente wie Sitar, Slideguitar und Bansuri-Flöte wieder, die den Hörer  mit auf eine klangsymphonische Reise nehmen.

  Cataleya Fay war in Österreich immer Teil von zahlreichen Musik- und Bandprojekten unterschiedlicher Musikrichtungen und hat viele Künstler als Gastsängerin auf der Bühne oder auf deren CDs unterstützt. Außerdem war sie des öfteren als Sängerin oder Tänzerin in Theater-, Tanz-, Mode-, und Werbeproduktionen tätig. Vollkommen ein Kind der schönen Künste widmet sie sich ebenso seit frühen Jahren der Malerei.
  Auf ihrem Weg zur unabhängigen Sängerin und Musikerin absolvierte Cataleya diverse Ausbildungen in Tanz und Tanzpädagogik, Yoga als auch Pilates und unterrichtete mehr als zehn Jahre in diesen Bereichen.

  Seit Ende 2012 ist Cataleya Fay solo unterwegs mit eigenen Songs im Gepäck, die sie selbst an Gitarre, Klavier oder sogar mal am Harmonium begleitet.
  Als Autodidakt brachte sie sich im Selbststudium Klavier, Gitarre und Harmonium bei. Alle Texte, Melodien und Kompositionen stammen aus ihrer eigenen Feder.
  Ihr Musikstil geht in Richtung Alternative Folk mit einem guten Schuss Soul. Als Inspiration nennt sie Künstler wie India Arie, Matt Corby, Nina Simone, Eva Cassidy, Xavier Rudd, Emeli Sandé, Damien Rice, Tracy Chapman, um nur einige hier aufzuzählen, als auch alte, überlieferte Schriften, Lehren und Philosophien.
  Neben ihren eigenen Konzerten gibt es weiterhin immer wieder spannende Kollaborationen mit anderen Musikern, Künstlern Referenten, Seminarleitern, um sich gegenseitig zu unterstützen und um gemeinsam mehr zu bewirken.
  Eine große Inspiration für Cataleya Fays Schaffen ist ihr immer wieder folgender Textauszug:

  Unsere größte Angst ist nicht, unzulänglich zu sein.

  Unser Licht, nicht unsere Dunkelheit, ängstigt uns am meisten.

  Cataleya Fay has found her very own, unique style in expressing music and playing concerts. On piano, guitar, the exotic harmonium or the shrutibox she merges elements of Folk, Soul, Pop, Worldmusic, Chant and R‘n‘B into songs and musical poems of high intensity and beauty.
  With her extraordinary versatile voice, little stories and sublte humor Cataleya Fay is able to guide her audience through various emotional landscapes, away from the sometimes hard reality and daily routine, friskily showing you, that everything could also be totally different.
  Authentic and personally, she sings and writes about main topics that concern all of us such as integritiy, courage, love, freedom, inspiration, our society and nature. Songs and poetry full of meaning, audible, tangible and philosophical. Music to make the world shine a little brighter for us.

  Her journey as a solo artist started in July 2012 with the release of her debut album „trace“. „Welcome To This World“, one of the tracks of this album was taken as theme song for the Cosmic Cine Filmfestival‘s trailer broadcasted in whole Germany and Switzerland. 2013 was intense with solo gigs and also with collaborations with other artists. In 2014 her concerts increased and more and more people took note on this gifted artist. Again one song, „Gone Beyond“, from her album „Trace“ was chosen as theme song for the documentary film „Spirit Berlin“ and can also be heard on the soundtrack published in October 2014. Her  second album “Journey” was released on the 1st of May 2015 under the Cologne Label „Electromantica“.

  She tried different genres – electronic music, rock, experimental pop, world music, mantra, chants – and sang in a gospel choir, but she has always been most attracted to the tradition of the singer-songwriters, which is all about expressing personal thoughts, feelings, experiences and observations. Though you can still hear all those different influences in her music.
  Her delightful original songs and musically poems are about main topics such as integrity, freedom, trying to see or find the beauty of life. Songs about our world, our society, nature, how we treat it, how we treat each other. About luck, love, magic, joy, inspiration and motivation. It’s music to encourage as much as inspire, because the world has plenty of critics already.
  Before Cataleya Fay decided to commit herself wholeheartedly to music, she completed several training programs in dancing, dance education, voice coaching, various yoga styles and pilates. For more than ten years she worked as a teacher in these fields. Completely a child of the fine arts Cataleya Fay is not only a passionate singer, musician or former dancer but also a painter since early days.
  In the last few years, Cataleya Fay has worked and performed with many great musicians from different backgrounds. Time and again she did and still does support various artists on stage or on their albums as a guest singer. When she was living in Austria, Cataleya has also worked as a singer and dancer for several theatre, dance, fashion and advertising productions.
  Cataleya Fay is an autodidact. She learned to play the piano, guitar and harmonium without formal instruction quite late, in order to express and accompany herself, when writing and composing songs, poems or chants.

  Great influences are not only great artists like Nina Simone, Matt Corby, Leonard Cohen, Tracy Chapman, India Arie, Xavier Rudd, Eva Cassidy and many more but also ancient scripts, teachings and philosophies.
  Her new album means something very special to Cataleya. Each song on “Journey” has a story, a meaning, some of them she even wrote some years ago, but now all of them are ready to be given to the world.
  Cataleya Fay firmly believes that music has the power to touch and to inspire people. She hopes that maybe her music can enliven something deep inside, to create feelings of joy, love, peace in the heart and courage for a world with more warmth, respect, love and freedom.
